Sin

"Sin" translates the Greek word hamartano which means "to miss the mark". It describes a failure to attain perfection ... of falling short of the goal. Sin in Scripture describes the failure of Man to live up to the perfection of God, of disobedience to God's perfect Law. The moment Man sinned, Scripture says he died (Genesis 2:15-17). He became spiritually separated from God, the source of Life.

Everyone born after Adam is born in Sin, and is by nature a Sinner. Man doesn't become a Sinner because he Sins ... Man Sins because he is a Sinner! The condition is permanent unless, by the grace of God, people trust in the sacrifical death of God's Son for their sins. Their very nature is then changed from Sinful to divine. No longer Sinners, they become children of God!
